Come be transported into a winter world of make believe at Wentworth Woodhouse as we present the inaugural ‘Once Upon a Wentworth Christmas’.

This enchanting experience is unlike any other Father Christmas event, as you delve into a magical fairy-tale world to save Christmas! Start your adventure with a tale of how the Snow Queen has kidnapped Father Christmas and outlawed all festivities. You will then embark on an immersive quest through the fairy kingdom, meeting magical characters along the way, becoming heroes of your own Winter legend and restoring the magic of Christmas!

This epic journey ends with a chance to meet Father Christmas, take photographs and place a magic wish on Father Christmas’ Wishing Tree!

Tickets are £16.50 + bkg fee per person

All tickets must be pre-booked in advance to allow us to manage the event within Covid19 safety guidelines.

IMPORTANT: Bookings must be made for groups within your social bubble.  Separate families or social bubbles must book separately.

Please arrive at the East Front Entrance (follow the signs) 15 minutes in advance of your experience beginning, for example, if you are booked for 11am, please be ready and queued at the East Front of Wentworth Woodhouse by 10.45am.

Please ensure you have booked the correct date and time; unfortunately, we will not be able to move any bookings once they have been made.  Travel times should be taken into consideration as tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.


19, 20, 21, 22 December

Sessions start every 15 minutes at between 9.30am – 5.00pm


Duration: 45 minutes for Christmas Experience which includes a take-away photo with Father Christmas.  There will be warm hot-toddies, craft beers and of course, children’s refreshments available after your experience which includes an activity area for children.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes ahead of the show start time to allow sufficient time to have tickets checked and follow Covid19 safety guidelines

This event is a magical walk-through theatrical experience which does include stairs.  As such, pushchairs are not permitted but can be safely left in the indoor buggy area.  Please make sure young babes can be carried in arms if attending

Recommended for children up to the age of 12.


The experience will include walking between rooms and a flight of 24 steps.  As this is a grade1 listed building, we unfortunately do not have a visitors lift.  This means that unfortunately over half the experience is not accessible to wheelchair users or people with mobility issues.


To comply with Covid19 Track and Trace guidelines, Wentworth Woodhouse needs to be able to contact at least one person from each booking in case there is a need to share information with public health track & trace system.  You are required to either scan the QR code on entry using the official NHS track and trace app or alternatively give contact details at front of house.

All persons will have their temperature taken on arrival using a non-contact thermometer. Visitors with a high reading will be given a window in which to be re-tested. If the second reading is above 37.5 degrees we reserve the right to refuse entry to the event.

Should you experience any signs of Covid19 which are:

  • A high temperature
  • A new or continuous cough
  • Loss or change to your sense of smell or taste

Prior to  or on the day of the event, you must not attend your experience.  Please contact us as soon as you are able if this is the case.

Each performance areas within each room is large enough to accommodate the limited capacity audience and ensure each audience members or household group within their social bubble have room to observe social distancing rules.

You will be required by law to wear a face covering throughout the experience. This is not required for children under the age of 11 or adults who are medically exempt. Proof of medical exemption will be required.


What happens if I can’t attend because I have to self-isolate?

Our tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable, however, we do appreciate you may not be able to attend due to self-isolation.  Please inform us as soon as you are able and we will inform you on how to exchange your ticket for another event.

Wentworth Christmas FAQs

Upon arrival, please follow the car-park signs, our stewards will be on-hand to direct you. Please follow the signs and make your way to the East Entrance where our team will be on hand to check your ticket.
Please arrive no more than 15 minutes ahead of your allocated time-slot. This will provide you with time to have your tickets checked before the experience. Please ensure you are on time for your allocated time. You are not able to join the group mid-experience and we cannot transfer your ticket to a later time.
Yes, the whole experience takes place within the house. It will start in the pillared hall, then make its way through various ground floor rooms before moving upstairs to the Marble Saloon and the State Dining room upstairs where your group will meet the Big Man himself.
Pushchairs are not permitted on the experience, as you are required to climb a flight of stairs as part of the experience. We do have a pram-park indoors where your buggies can be safely stored.
Your group will have a maximum of 30 adults and children in each time-slot. You will join our fairy-tale characters on an immersive, magical tour which includes meeting Father Christmas, having your photo taken by a professional photographer to take away with you at the end of the event. At the end of the event, there will be a refreshments area which includes an activity zone for children and a wishing tree for all children to hang their wishes on.
Local lockdown restrictions have been considered and the event is able to run safely should this be the case. Should guidelines change and mean the event is unable to run, we may have to postpone the event at short notice. In this case, the event will move to revised dates and your ticket will be valid for the rescheduled event. If you are unable to attend the revised dates you have 30 days in which to request a refund, excluding booking fees.
The ticketing platform is provided by a third party provider who charges a fee for providing this service alongside a card handling fee. The face value of the ticket goes directly towards supporting Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust.
As babies are too young to interact with the experience, tickets for babies (generally under 2s) are free of charge. Please ensure you click the ticket option on the website. Also, please be aware pushchairs are not permitted on the experience, as you are required to climb a flight of stairs as part of the experience.
